Prevention of Gender Violence Project

The Gender Project, set to run from January 1, 2024 in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, is dedicated to empowering women in deprived areas by promoting gender equality and addressing gender-based violence. The project’s overarching goal is to improve the living conditions of women and enable them to live free from violence and with dignity. Despite various international agreements advocating for gender equality, women in India continue to face significant challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, limited access to resources, and high rates of domestic violence. The project aims to empower beneficiaries to take charge of their development process and assert their basic human rights. It focuses on ensuring that women and men, girls and boys enjoy the same rights, resources, opportunities, and protections. This includes efforts to eliminate harmful practices such as sex trafficking, femicide, wartime sexual violence, and the gender wage gap. The project plans to conduct awareness sessions for 1156 community beneficiaries and 340 children, aiming to significantly reduce instances of gender-based violence.
