Urban slum residents suffer from unpleasant or poor health conditions due to mainly two reasons –first the lack of education and thus lack of knowledge; and second the reluctance to lose a day’s earning or wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Healthcare for poor & needy, which is a desperate need, thus remains unaddressed. The need of the hour is thus a two pronged approach.

Bring quality healthcare services to doorsteps of the needy and Promote healthcare awareness and modern healthcare seeking behavior among the underprivileged.

In such a scenario a mobile healthcare services delivery system is the most practical mechanism. And in subscription to this view, Sarathi Social Foundation has initiated the various health services:

  • Medical checkup Camps and campaigns in slums,
  • Health Talks -for health awareness
  • 24*7 Help line -Doctor on phone call
  • Medical guidance center & Referral services- to Trust & Govt hospitals in the communities through Doctor with distribution of medical supplements to needy in slums kind of programs.
  • Network of health care provider in the communities

This is a unique mobile dispensary program that seeks to address problems of mobility, accessibility and availability of primary healthcare with a special focus on children and women, in urban slums and remote rural areas as well.
